An AC gas refill in Dubai is only half the job: if the system needs gas, something let the last charge out. We will still charge it, but we find the leak first so you are not booking the same visit again next month.
The causes we find, in order
Flare joint leaking at the connections
The flared copper joints at either end of the pipe run are where most charge escapes, usually from vibration or a poor original flare. Re-making the flare properly is a permanent fix, not a top-up.
Corrosion pinholes in the coil
Coastal humidity eats aluminium fins and the thin coil tubing behind them. A pinholed evaporator can sometimes be repaired, but often the honest answer is a coil or a unit, and we say which.
Failed Schrader valve core
The service port core is a two-dirham part that leaks slowly for months and is regularly missed. We check it as a matter of course before assuming anything more expensive.
Undercharged from installation
Some units were never charged to the correct weight for their pipe length, so they have always underperformed. We weigh the charge in rather than guessing by pressure alone.

How long should a gas charge last?
Indefinitely. A sealed system does not consume refrigerant, so if you are topping up annually you have a leak that nobody has repaired.
Do you charge by weight or by pressure?
By weight, to the figure on the unit nameplate, adjusted for the pipe run. Charging by pressure alone in Dubai ambient temperatures is how systems end up overcharged and inefficient.
